Giovanni Mason

Giovanni Mason is always searching for new stimuli, whether in ancient arts or modern sensibilities, as well as for new ways of interpreting the everyday. With his sculptures he has created a mythology of fantasy worlds, reinventing the emotions of culture and tradition which have accompanied him throughout his life. Giovanni Mason is a multi-facetted artist: a sculptor, painter and lithographer. He expresses his passion and inner torment by experimenting with the most diverse materials, using his creations effectively to tell the story of his secret world: a universe consisting of emotions and sentiments, of new wonders, impressions, stimulation and agitation.

In the Lugano exhibition hosted by Arner Bank, Mason paid homage to the sources of inspiration that fascinate, move and trouble him. He did so in his guise as an eternal experimenter, following the inner voice that guides his hand, and his desire to tell a story. Mason’s sculpture is powerful and spiritual, rich in symbols that must be interpreted and relished through the artist’s sensibility, allowing visitors to compare their own emotions to those which flow from the artist’s unconscious search.
