[Lines of shadow]

Didier Hays presented 24 large-format versions of his own extraordinary art photographs that rediscover and interpret the books of Alfred Jarry, T.E. Lawrence and Blaise Cendrars. The artist not only views the books in terms of image, perception and object, but also in terms of content, quotation and design. The pages of the books are punctuated by lines of shadow from constantly changing perspectives, imposed by alterations in natural light and reflections of windows on the lakeside, with surprising and unpredictable effects on the photos exhibited. The close-up photos and the mechanism of visual Chinese boxes allowed visitors to look ever more deeply into the images punctuated by light and shadow, revealing new levels, stimuli and emotions.
